Abstract: The authors of this article consider human speech as the most important factor of consciousness (not denying the role of labor and other factors). The word-concept is presented as knowledge of historical memory, individual and social experience by which human being cognizes outward things, learns and understands himself and others. Authors state anxiety about the poverty of colloquial vocabulary of contemporaries, caused first of all by widespread dissemination of virtual means of com-munication.
