Abstract: Results of analysis of Russian and foreign publications in area of definitions and classifications of nanotechnologies are given. It is shown that formation of conceptual apparatus in area of nanotechnology worldwide is greatly behind the dynamics of the examined phenomenon itself that can lead to tendency to exaggerate technical effects and can exert desorienting influence to making economically grounded desicions.
