Abstract: In the given work possibility of application of methods of nonlinear dynamics for an estimation of deterioration of the cutting tool is considered. After characteristic choice, the expediency of its use by means of calculation of mutual correlation between the chosen characteristic and target parameter of process of processing (in our case of a roughness of the processed surface) is proved.
