Abstract: The structure of products from Indian vutz – the best damask steel of the time found at excavation in Central Asia is investigated. Is also investigated macro- both a microstructure and properties of this legendary steel and it is proved that it is the first-ever composite material a steel - white pig-iron. The modern manufacturing techniques vutz are developed, its cutting properties are investigated.
