Abstract: In the article was given to the author's definition of economic safety, economic protection and economic competitiveness of the region. The approach and algorithm of measuring the level of economic protection of the region, based on quantitative assessment of its competitiveness has been proposed. The factors of the economic and social environment of the region (which with necessarily and sufficient degree characterize the accumulated potential competitive advantages) were identified.
