Abstract: The quantitative assessment of the form parameter at corundum grinding grains fractions of F10 granularity received from the initial mass of a usual abrasive on the vibration separator intended for division of grains by a form parameter was carried out. The technique which is based on obtaining of flat images of abrasive grains with the subsequent establishment of the coefficients of their form equal to the relation of diameters of circumscribed circles to diameters of inscribed circles on projections of grains is applied to a quantitative assessment of a form of grains. The form coefficients of abrasive grains were established by means of special computer programs. The average form coefficient of the abrasive grains in each fraction was determined by results of research not less than 50 separate grains. For obtaining of the abrasive grains images the scanner, and also a microscope with the digital camera installed on it were used. By results of researches it is established that the images of grains received by scanning and by means of a microscope are suitable for a quantitative assessment of a form parameter of abrasive grains. However where grains have the small sizes (less than 300÷400 of micron), white and transparent shades and high precision of measurements is required, usage of a microscope for obtaining of abrasive grains images is expedient.
