Abstract: The urgency of the discussed issue: The effective operation of the educational institution of higher education is inconceivable without a productive research activity (RA). Indicators of scientific productivity is now included in the list of the main indicators of the accreditation of the university, which, of course, talking about the relevance of studies of the university teaching staff motivation RA and motivating students. The main aim of the study: Analysis of the students' motivation to implement research activities; analysis of diagnostic possibilities psychographic test V.G. Leontiev to diagnose motivation research activities. The methods used in the study: Diagnostic Method of motivation research activities T.V. Ogorodova; method of studying the motivational profile S. Ritchie and P. Martin; diagnostic technique structure motivation K. Zamfir; psychographic test V.G. Leontiev. Statistical analysis of survey data was performed using the Original Program: MS Excel, Statistica v. 10. The results: The results allow characterizing the differences in relation to the research activity and readiness for implementation of research activities of students in various fields. The results of correlations, translational and factor analysis indicate a high diagnostic potential psychographic test.
