Abstract: The problem of transition to the knowledge economy in resources-extractive regions of Russia gains particular acuteness today because of the dramatically deteriorated situation in the world raw materials markets and the negative impact of foreign restrictions. To solve this problem, it is necessary to develop the conception and technologies of the emerging knowledge economy socialization, which in turn requires a strong empirical foundation. The purpose of this article is to perform a comparative analysis of the knowledge economy current state in two regions of Russia with raw materials orientation of the regional economy – Tomsk and Kemerovo Oblasts. In the study the general methods of natural sciences are applied – empirical research methods: observation in close unity with the method of induction. Implementation of the system of inductive generalization rules and interpretation of the results of observation – particular methods of natural-science knowledge (method of agreement, method of difference, joint method of agreement and difference, method of concomitant variations, method of residue) in conjunction with statistical methods of empirical data processing allows to get as the scientific result the model representation of the knowledge economy current state in resources-extractive regions – Tomsk and Kemerovo Oblasts. The model representation proposed in the article is the basis for the further research.
