Abstract: Use of an elongated charge of non-round cross-section form allows us to control the energy of explosion, but in the case of complete filling of the blasthole with the explosive, its practical application for formation of the appropriate form of the holey is limited by the design of the drilling tool. The paper proposed criteria for the assessment of the forms of cross-section of the blasthole completely filled with elongated explosive charge. The criteria are considered from the point of view of the efficiency of the explosive impact on the rock and can be used to create and justify the designs of the drilling tool. The geometric forms of blasthole cross-sections in the form of correct figures have been analyzed, the analysis shows that there is a relationship between the reviewed criteria, however, their specific value can be determined for the available designs of drilling tools.
