Abstract: The article presents the results of changes of the chemical structure and the surface properties of coal particles at the initial stage of atmospheric oxidation. This used the methods of IR spectral analysis and the wettability of coal surface by water. By the nature of the changes in the indices of oxidation and hydrophilicity of the coal surface can be assumed that the storage of small classes of coal grade G for three months at atmospheric conditions fundamentally affect its flotation properties.
