Abstract: This paper presents a method of producing carbon sorbents from the naturally oxidized coal of the Barzas field. The synthesis was carried out in two stages: impregnation of the coal with the КОН solution at predetermined coal/alkali weight ratios and carbonation at 800°С. The research of changes in the sorbent texture characteristics depending on the initial coal milling size was carried out at the weight ration coal/alkali 1:2. It is shown that the sorbents obtained from the naturally oxidized Barzas coal activated by potassium hydroxide have a developed porous structure and high adsorption characteristics.
Key words: carbon sorbents oxidized coal carbonization porous structure adsorption
