Abstract: It has been noted that there is a threat of increase in number and scale of emergency situations of natural and technogenic character among which mudflows and landslides are of particular importance. As of today, in the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic they found over 5000 sites prone to landslides. Thus, landslides arise both on natural slopes, and on open-cast technological slopes. The main reasons for loss of stability by slopes and banks in the conditions of Kyrgyzstan are established. The technique for estimation of rock mass stability was developed based on numerical modeling of the stress-strain behavior. The Landslide Modeller software program was developed for the practical solution of a problem of landslide process modeling. The result of a landslide modeling on the open pit slopes is presented. The developed technique of modeling the landslide movement and the software make it possible to estimate not only the hillside stability, but also its volume and distance of propagation.
