Abstract: Land management is the most important condition for rational and efficient use of lands of all categories. According to the adopted terminology in the scientific and technical literature, land management refers to activities including studying of the state of land, planning and management of rational use of land and its protection, formation of new and streamlining existing land management facilities and establishing their boundaries on the terrain. Linear facilities have a large spatial extent, due to which they can be located on agricultural land, on the land of the forest fund, in specially protected areas, etc. The definition of the boundaries of a linear structure is especially important, based on sometimes unreasonably inflated rates of their deployment. In the article, based on the analysis of normative documents on the allocation of land for the allocation of roads and (or) road service objects, while designing the border of the right-of-way for the road, universal formulas for calculating the width of the strip allocated for the road are developed and presented. The calculation mechanism is also given. The topic of the article has not been raised before, and is poorly understood.
