Abstract: The role of alkaline-containing additives during the gasification processes of carbon materials by water steam is discussed in this article. Various mechanisms of alkali metal-catalyzed steam gasification reactions that have been proposed up to date, the structure of active intermediates and the effects of the nature of alkaline compound precursors on the efficiency of the processes being occurred, are considered.
