Abstract: At many sulfuric acid production plants using gas, lump or flaked sulfur, they faced the problem of recycling sulfuric cake (sludge-bitumen), the waste formed during melting and filtration of sulfur. Due to a high sulfur content, the cake is a fire hazardous product that can ignite spontaneously and therefore it cannot be disposed of in industrial waste landfills. Recovery of this waste will reduce the environmental load when producing sulfuric acid.
Key words: sludge bitumen sulfuric cake production waste sulfur extraction with dimethylformamide (DMF)
