Abstract: The cost of production of mining complexes includes the cost of equipment downtime and all operating costs. In considering all operating costs, it was revealed that the repair of unforeseen breakdowns of the motor-wheel reducing gear accounted for a considerable share of costs. Thus, in order to reduce these costs, as well as to increase the reliability of the equipment, it is proposed to introduce a technological operation to diagnose the actual technical condition of the motor-wheel reducing gear in the maintenance procedure, which is currently not included in the list of mandatory maintenance. The basis of the proposed manipulation is a physical and chemical analysis of the oil, as well as the monitoring of oil temperature dynamics during the equipment operation. The analysis will reveal the percentage of wear surface impurities that are accumulated during the operation of mining equipment. To identify the degree of wear and the percentage of metallic impurities in the working oil of the motor-wheel reducing gear, the experiments were carried out. According to these experiments, a mathematical model was derived that reflects the dependence of these factors on the parameters of the dump truck. The cost of this manipulation compared to the downtime of mining equipment is negligible; moreover, the decrease in downtime will affect the increase in productivity of the entire enterprise as a whole.
