Abstract: Common safety problems of enterprises in basic industries are considered, taking into account the main external and internal threats. The relevance of improving the overall and economic safety of the Kuzbass coal industry enterprises is substantiated. The main goals and tasks in the field of safety and labor protection at coal mining enterprises in Russia, especially in Kuzbass, are given. The main areas to be implemented in the field of labor safety in the coal industry of the Russian Federation until 2035 are defined. The implementation of these areas, which provide for the introduction of various innovative measures, is considered in stages. The first stage is to improve legislation in this area, taking into account international experience. The second stage is the development and implementation of innovative projects in the coal industry. The third stage is to reach the world level of labor safety at coal mining enterprises, as well as industrial use of methane, and other associated minerals of coal and associated useful components of coal (rare and rare earth metals). The implementation of these measures will reduce accidents during coal mining in Kuzbass, increase the economic potential of coal mining enterprises, solve social problems of coal industry workers and improve the environmental situation in the Kemerovo region.
