Abstract: The use of resource-saving technologies and modern organization methods is a necessary condition to ensure efficiency and viability of coal mining in the conditions of competitiveness at the international and domestic energy markets. The paper presents the results of modeling and analytical expressions that relate the value of the key characteristic of an open pit coal mining enterprise-the duration of the technological cycle, with the main parameters of its production system. The value of this characteristic determines the possibility and conditions for transferring the production system of a coal mining enterprise from "push" to" pull " mode of operation. It is shown that at a certain level of saturation of the working area of the quarry with mining equipment, there is a possibility of transferring the production system to the mode of operation synchronized with the dynamics of the market demand, that ensures an increase in the efficiency of enterprise.
