Abstract: The problem of the relationship between the exposure of the population to dust particles from the coal and coal-processing industries with the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases (CVD) is extremely acute for the Kemerovo region. Most of the multicenter epidemiological studies substantiating the relationship between the physicochemical properties of dust particles and the development of CVDs were carried out in developed countries, without taking into account the geographical, climatic, socioeconomic characteristics, as well as the industrial orientation of the regions of developing countries. The establishment of such patterns contributes to the study of population relationships between exposure to dust particles with other risk factors for CVD and the mechanisms of their pathogenic action. The purpose of this study is to study the elemental composition of the dust of a medical institution and compare it with other objects. A complex of modern physicochemical methods (scanning electron microscopy, IR spectroscopy, high-temperature catalytic oxidation) has been used to study the chemical composition of medical dust and the morphology of its surface.
